I've heard that writing is a solitary life and I discovered that writing really is a solitary life but to my surprise it was not solitary in terms of being alone but solitary in terms of experiencing writing alone. I set out a few weeks ago to write poetry to motivate and encourage others to be their best. I've developed avenues to share my work on the web from iTunes to social media networks to online writers communities. I've made an effort to write and post poems for reading and through this entire yet short journey I've shared my joys, small victories (try uploading podcasts to iTunes and see what I mean by a small victory), my frustrations and my eureka creative moments with those closest to me.
And for all of these moments the reaction I receive from my dear loved ones is something along the line of "Alisa, that's wonderful." And after a few conversations along the lines of "anybody can upload to iTunes " and "I would be impressed if you actually made some money" I realized that writing is a solitary experience. The reading of a finished piece shared with society is a public experience but the writing, the process of creating a literary art piece, is best kept to self.
Although I'm surrounded by love and blind support writing is hard to share.
